Thanks Michael & Tess; Cycling Gear, June 29, 2009

My friend Michael from EcoVelo and her daughter Tess were kind enough to send Mina some cycling gear that Tess had grown out of. If you notice, I haven't posted in a couple days. This is because all Mina has worn for 3 days straight are the cycling jersey and pants. To bed, after basketball, out to the store. I had to pry them off to wash them. Thanks Michael & Tess!

A Post for Maya

Today my oldest girl, Maya, is graduating from middle school. And her outfit is fierce so she needs her own post. We found this vintage pencil skirt and funky top at our local, fav thrift store. Such a beauty!

From the Archives, Mina 9, Laced Up

When Mina went to her room with this old shirt, I knew she wanted to cut the collar off. But when she came out, she had created a lace back with old shoe laces too.

Hanging in the Afternoon, June 15, 2009

Not sure what's on her foot. I think it used to be part of some leggings that she cut down to more interesting uses.
I told her to pose however she wanted: She adjusted the legging piece.

Going to School, June 12, 2009

I like that all of Mina's outfits aren't outrageous and that some are just subtly interesting. Like a shirt over a dress with a belt. I love the colors.

From the Archives, Mina 3, Stepping Out

We knew we had something on our hands when Mina walked out of the house like this at age 3. We didn't even know where the glasses had come from. It wasn't just the glasses either. It was the arm-swing and confidence of a grown person.

From the Archives, Mina 9, Accidental WonderWoman

Mina can certanily ham it up expecially when she knows that everyone loves her style, but her genius is revealed most when she does stuff just for herself.

I hadn't notice that she made cuffs out of paper cups until after I took this picture of her enjoying cake at Maya's birthday party over a year ago.Women around my age would immediately spot the WonderWoman reference, but I know Mina's never seen WW. But on her t-shirt is an 1970's image of WW and I know Mina made the cuffs only because she thought they looked good, not because they could ward off bullets.

Going to School, June 4th; Sister Act Too

Mina's best friend's mom owns a great, high end kid's clothing line called Kaiyaeve (Mina's leggings are Kaiyaeve). Yesterday, Mina hung out at the Kaiyaeve warehouse and she collected ribbon and her BFF's mom let them make headbands. I love the scraps of ribbon Mina wove into her entire outfit this morning.Maya wanted to get some site time, and rightfully so. She's got a great sense of style too. Here's her interpretation of how a model poses.

From the Archives, Not That Long Ago; Birthday Suit

Mina turned 10 in April and she got a lot of great clothes from friends. The Monday after her birthday, Mina decided to wear most of her birthday clothes to school, at the same time.
